Strangers, again

I’ve recently watched the short video “Strangers, again” by the guys from WongFu Productions, and I have to say I really loved it! The storyline is one that we can all relate to because it depicts a situation in which most of us would have been through before, or will go through at one point in our lives.

The storyline shows us a natural progression of a relationship, summing it up into 7 stages – Meeting, Chasing, Honeymoon, Comfortable, Tolerance, Downhill, Breaking Up.

The first 4 stages illustrate how relationships will start out, and then after that it’s up to each couple’s work and effort in building their relationship that will dictate whether they will head towards the next 3 stages. If you continue to work on your relationship after the 4^th stage, and as time goes by increases your level of commitment in the relationship, i.e. marriage then you will bypass those last 3 stages. However, not everyone is fortunate enough to find this everlasting love, and even when you do, it is never first-time-lucky. Before finding that special someone, it is likely that you will have to kiss a few frogs and deal with some tough breakups!

I think the downfall behind Josh & Marissa’s relationship lies in the fact that Josh was hesitant to take that next step in their relationship. What Marissa said was so true, there comes a point in a relationship when “you either get married or break up”. Josh’ response to her question “So, do you think we’ll get married?” was probably the confirmation she needed to decide where their relationship was heading. His reluctance indicated to her that he didn't think she was THE ONE, or else he would have reacted positively.

But it’s probably a good thing for her to have asked him this, so she could find out what he wants out of the relationship. It’s important to know whether your partner is on the same wavelength and wants the same thing out of the relationship, because if not, you’ll need to decide if you can wait around for when they are ready to make that commitment, or that you’ll just have to let go and find somebody else who wants the same thing as you. Letting go might be hard but it’s inevitable when the relationship is no longer working ,and if one party, or both, are not content with it anymore.

And when people decide to go their separate ways, they then become strangers again...

Baby's christening

Last Saturday I attended a baby's christening, in which Chris' parents are Godparents to the little girl. It was my first time at a christening so I was pretty excited to see the rituals carried out at the ceremony. It was held at a beautiful Greek Orthodox Church in Marrickville. The walls, ceiling and stage (is that what you call the front section where the priests stand?) are decorated with paintings of Greek Gods and their religious symbols.

After the christening we went to a reception place, also in Marrickville, to celebrate the baby girl's 1st birthday. There was so much food that I was glad I wore a skirt with an elastic waist band!

April

It's scary how quickly the months are flying by this year. It's almost the end of April and soon enough winter will be starting (although today's weather is cold enough to be considered winter!). I'm not a fan of the cold weather because I always get sick during these months.

Easter long weekend

It was so nice to have a four day weekend over Easter...a much needed break! And what made it even better was the warm sunny weather, which meant that I was able to hit the beach to try get some colour on my pale skin before the temperature starts getting cooler.

Nonna Maria's Place

Last Saturday Chris & I caught up with some friends over dinner in Parramatta. We wanted to go to a restaurant we haven't been to before, and also be away from the hustle bustle of Church Street. When I was doing my research on eatability I came across Nonna Maria's Place, which is a small homely Italian restaurant located on Phillip Street. It had gathered a lot of good reviews, so it ended up as our pick for the night.

The food was indeed fresh and tasty, and their prices were really affordable too! The menu was, however, quite limited but I guess that just means they can concentrate on the dishes on offer. Service was a little slow on the night, but that's probably because the place was super busy with the three big birthday groups there to celebrate. Overall, the food was nice, the atmosphere was relaxed and their owner/staff was very friendly.

After a relaxing weekend, it was so hard to get back into work mode. Luckily, a nice little package from yesstyle arrived at work yesterday to make my Monday bearable.
